【】 On December 16, 2017, a recall vote was held against legislator Huang Kuo-chang, a member of the 9th Legislative Yuan and the result was unsuccessful. The Central Election Commission (CEC) issued a public notice to announce this result on Dec 19, 2017.
The CEC indicated that the total number of eligible voters in the electoral district that Huang belonged to was 255,551, in which 70,924 voted, resulting in a turnout of 27.75%. The number of valid votes was 70,441(483 invalid). Among the valid votes, 48,693 voted to recall and 21,748 voted against it. The number of votes in favor of recall did surpass the number of votes in defense of Huang. However, the number of votes in favor did not reach the benchmark needed to recall Huang, which is set at 25% of the eligible voters in Huang’s electoral district. Therefore, the recall attempt failed.
