On August 31st,
2017, the Central Election Commission (CEC) delegation attended the Association
of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) General Assembly, where the CEC was elected as
an executive board member. A-WEB is the world's largest electoral organization
with a total of 109 members. With this new role in the association, the CEC
will not only be shouldering more responsibilities and mandate but also capable
of increasing the visibility of Taiwan internationally.
The General Assembly was
held in Bucharest, Romania. In order to obtain more opportunities to share our
successful electoral practices and experiences with other member countries, the
CEC has actively sought to become an executive board member and were fortunate
enough to receive the support from fellow members.
CEC’s new Chairman Dr.
In-Chin Chen has assumed the office on November 21, 2017. The CEC have sent out
letters to inform the Chairmans, Vice Chairmans, and executive board members of
A-WEB and the Association of Asian Election Authorities (AAEA), the Secretary
General of A-WEB, Mr. Kim Yong-hi. The CEC also expressed that the
collaboration between our parties will further strengthen going forward.
